Words cannot be often enough accurate to authentically share a wonderful trip experience. I, therefore, opted to share a video with you to get a glimpse of my travel in Corfu Island with friends. You will discover Cretan Traditional drink.
We drank countless traditional alcoholic drinks. Firstly, Rakomelo. It’s a Cretan Traditional Warm and Sweet Alcoholic Drink made by combining Greek Raki, thyme honey, and cinnamon sticks. Trust me, it’s worth trying! And guess what, above all, you can drink many glasses of Rakomelo without getting hangover on the next day. That is so cool, isn’t it! On the other hand, Rakomelo is very stronger than Raki as it contains approximately 40% of alcohol.
So you can visit the following webpage on How to self-made Rakomelo.
Then, Greek Raki is the Cretan welcome drink that is integrally part of the local identity and hospitality. Raki is served chilled in small raki glass. It is cold, slightly sweet, and contains a lower percentage of alcohol (~17%) likening to Rakomelo. Similarly, there is another one called Rakito, the Cretan version of the famous cocktail Mojito composed of Cretan tsikoudia, lime, and mint.
Besides drinks, Corfu Island as well as Greece’s mainland is popular for its sweet and tasty foods.
FOOD
Firstly, legumes are popular dishes traditionally consumed at least twice a week. Beans such as lentils or broad beans are prepared with tomato, onion, and olive oil, and also accompanied with cheese and bread.
Secondly, In northern Greece, lamb, goat, chicken, pork, and veal as well as vegetables are very popular. The meat is usually prepared roasted in the oven with lemon, garlic, and oregano, or as a stew in tomato sauce.
As vegetable pies, they last a long time without refrigeration and provide a way to use any leftover vegetables or other ingredients.
It is important to note that garlic, lemon, onion, oregano, parsley, laurel, mint, dill, cinnamon, cumin, and allspice, play a very important role in the traditional foods and dishes of Greece.
